During my trip to the Wolseley Centre, I noticed that some of the birds were struggling to walk or walking on one leg. After a closer look I noticed that the feet of the birds were fat and swollen. I then noticed that this was only affecting the chaffinches.
Could this be bumblefoot? And if so, why is it only chaffinches that are showing signs of this bacterial infection that causes an inflammatory reaction on the feet of birds and rodents?
