THE BALCONY BLUES: 24.02.14 (8.10am)

As many of you know, the blue tits have been visiting the nest box on my balcony everyday this week and are developing quite a large fan base!

I have written blogs about various nature reserves I have visited since starting this blog, but the blue tits that visit my balcony on a regular basis are proving to be my most popular feature so far.

So this morning I switched on my TV bright and early at 6.30am to view the inside of the nestbox. 7.00am came and no sign of the blue tits. 7.30am and still no sign. 8.00am…..yes you guessed it, still no sign of the blue tits unfortunately.

But, at 8.10am, just as I was about to leave my flat for work, they arrived! They do pick their times.

A bit of a dark morning, so a bit of a dark video, but you can definately see that this blue tit is definately considering this as their new home.

Love blue tits. We used to get them in our nest box every year. We then had our kitchen extended about 4 years ago and had to move the box. The blue tits haven’t been back since 😦

Oh no that’s a shame. Is the nest box in a similar place as before? It can all depend on which way the box is facing (best between north and east or at least not in direct sunlight) and in a place where predators can’t reach e.g. no drainpipes cats can climb.
