Nesting Long Tailed Tits at ‘The Spinney’ 4th May 2016

Walking through ‘The Spinney’ in Staffordshire, an ancient woodland filled with birdsong, I noticed a long tailed tit on a tree across the river. I didn’t think much of it until I saw what I thought was him or her building a nest. I took a photo even though it was quite a distance away. As I walked away I zoomed in on the photo I had taken and couldn’t believe what I saw! The nest was filled with long tailed tit chicks! It is lucky I was still there when I checked the photograph. We walked straight back to the nest to continue watching. What a lovely sight on a lovely spring evening.
