Blue Rock Thrush, Stow-on-the-Wold

After good views of a dusky thrush and black-throated thrush over the Christmas period in 2016, when we heard the news that a blue rock thrush had been spotted in a small garden in Stow-on-the-Wold, we decided we had to make the three hour journey to continue our list of rare thrushes in the UK. We arrived in the Cotswolds just before lunch where we had lovely views of this mega rare bird. I have to say, he is my favourite of the rare thrushes so far, with his cobalt blue feathers and, I have to say at times, a bit of a grumpy face too. This bird is a rare sight in Northern Europe and was a real treat for twitchers all over the country.blue-rock-thrushblue-rock-thrush-3
