White-billed Diver, Lincolnshire

On Saturday we left a very rainy Staffordshire and made a two and a half hour journey to a slightly sunnier Lincolnshire in search of a rare bird, the white-billed diver which had been spotted on River Witham near Woodhall Spa.

After a 30 minute walk along the river a group of twitchers alerted us to the right spot where it was completely oblivious to the crowd that had gathered because of it. We managed to get some amazing views and a few record shots before it headed up the river. Luckily we also managed to escape the huge rain cloud which had formed above us that day.
