Little Owl, Kensington Gardens, London

Neighbourhood Watch. You know the person I am talking about, rarely leaves the house, very nosy but you can trust them to keep their eye on all the suspicious goings on in your neighbourhood. The little owl is the absolute equivalent of this in the bird world.

We spotted this little chap in a hole in a tree in Kensington Gardens. From observing him, I am sure he knew the lives of every bird, mammal, insect and human in that park.

Entering the park from Albert Memorial and heading North-west through the park, this little owl can be spotted high up in a hole in an oak tree…

Woe betide anyone who dares to walk under his tree though…

An angry glare is guaranteed for anyone who does so…

Neighbourhood watch is tiring business…

But despite his grumpy ways, you can’t help but love this cheeky character…

A man told us of a regular little owl in a tree in the gardens. We followed his advice regarding directions and as promised there he was guarding his prized hole in the tree.
