Common Lizards at Cannock Chase

Name: Common Lizard

Date: 2nd April 2017

Time: 1.00pm

Place: Cannock Chase

Weather: Cloudy with breaks of sunshine

I love spring time because it brings a whole host of new wildlife on the scene, my favourite being reptiles and amphibians. Amongst the bramble and gorse at Cannock Chase we heard a scurrying sound. Common lizards are very well camouflaged and difficult to see. More often than not you will suddenly see an eye peering up at you and wonder how long it has been sitting watching you.

The lizards were quite unsettled with my presence to begin with, but as they got used to me they were quite comfortable coming out and bathing in the sun.
